Larry’s interest in drawing appeared throughout his life. As a young boy he was frequently homebound due to a persistent illness. The drawings of cartoon characters kept him occupied. As his skills developed, he would often help with drawings on holiday bulletin boards in elementary school. In both junior and senior high school, however, his interest turned to mechanical drawing and talent in this area became apparent. He then ventured into leathermaking where he excelled creatively. His skills in this medium earned him commissions for leather handbags, wallets, gun cases and belts.

Professionally, Larry went into the field of civil engineering and worked as a draftsman which evolved into a 40-year career which culminated into retirement as a licensed Professional Land Surveyor. In 2019, his past drawing interest and mechanical drafting skills led him into talking a drawing class. With the encouragement of his teacher, he tightened his skills and began drawing professionally with a focus in graphite realism.
